Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Gnocchi (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (or olive oil) Feel free to substitute with olive oil for a healthier option.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced For an aromatic base.
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) Crushed tomatoes Look for quality brands for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Heavy cream Can swap with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish Dried works too if you're in a pinch.
  • Grated Parmesan cheese Optional but highly recommended.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by cooking the gnocchi according to package instructions. If using fresh gnocchi, this should only take about 2-3 minutes; they’re done when they float to the top.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Enjoy the nutty aroma filling the air.
  3. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant—be careful not to let it brown.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, stirring to combine, and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, and stir in the heavy cream. Allow it to cook for another 5 minutes while seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, gently stirring to coat them in the creamy sauce.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for that finishing touch.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat by adding a splash of cream or broth to keep the sauce creamy.
