Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice. Toss them well and set aside.
- In another bowl, mix the brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Assembly
- Pour the prepared apples into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the topping evenly over the apples.
Baking
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
For a different flavor profile, consider swapping the apples for pears or adding nuts to the topping. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for 2-3 months.
