Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Toss the slices in a bowl with lemon juice, half of the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
- Spread the apples evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Streusel Preparation
- In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.
- Pour in the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
- Top the apples with the streusel mixture, making sure to cover them evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are soft and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving to allow the filling to set.
Notes
For variations, consider adding chopped nuts, using berries, or adding pumpkin spice during the holidays. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze tightly wrapped.
