  • 4 fillets Salmon fillets, skin-on Choose high-quality, sustainably-sourced salmon for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce, low-sodium preferred Tamari can be used for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar Honey can be substituted if desired.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • Green onions, sliced thinly (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil until well combined to prepare the marinade.
  3. Arrange the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down. Pour the marinade evenly over the salmon, reserving a small amount for basting later.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  2. Baste halfway through the cooking time with the reserved marinade for extra flavor and moisture.
  3. Garnish the salmon with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a unique twist, substitute salmon with cod or tilapia. Consider adding roasted vegetables or rice to make it a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
