Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces salmon fillets (skin on or off, your choice)
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey for a delightful sweetness
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or basil) for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar, honey, and minced garlic. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Lower the heat and simmer for about 8-10 minutes, or until thickened.
  2. Generously season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. In a heavy skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon fillets, skin side down (if applicable), and sear for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy. Gently flip them over.
  4. Drizzle half of the balsamic glaze over the salmon, allowing it to cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, basting with the glaze.
  5. Remove the salmon from the skillet and plate it. Drizzle the remaining balsamic glaze over the top and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

This dish can be varied by substituting honey for maple syrup for a vegan option or adding a splash of soy sauce for an Asian twist. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
