  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar and mozzarella) Mix for a creamy texture.
  • 1/2 cup diced jalapeños Adjust based on spice preference.
  • 1 package empanada dough (or pie crust) Store-bought for convenience.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Provides sweetness and depth.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tsp cumin Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tsp paprika Gives a smoky flavor.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) Ensures a golden finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add ground beef, cooking until browned; drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in cheese, jalapeños, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Roll out empanada dough and cut into circles.
  6. Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture on each dough circle, fold, and seal the edges.
  7. Brush the tops with egg wash.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, or chimichurri. Cool completely and refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
