Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line the bottom with parchment.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until foaming subsides and it turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Mixing Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the mashed bananas, browned butter, and sour cream.
- Fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing; the batter should be lumpy.
- If desired, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a healthier version, replace half the sugar with mashed dates or applesauce. To store, wrap tightly and keep at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
