Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Brown it until it's golden brown for deep flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Light or dark; both work beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For a balance of sweetness.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature for better incorporation.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Use pure for the best flavor.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Makes up the bulk of your dough.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Helps the cookies rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances all the flavors.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark, depending on your preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue cooking until it turns a deep amber color and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with both brown sugar and granulated sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing!
  6. Gently stir in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto prepared baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For variations, consider adding chopped nuts or experimenting with different types of chocolate. Keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
