Preparation
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking until it becomes golden brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour the browned butter over the sugars and stir until well blended.
- Mix in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a cookie scoop or spoon, portion out the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
These cookies can be customized with nuts or dried fruit. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. You can also freeze the cookie dough balls before baking. If you have leftovers, warm them up in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to revive that fresh-baked taste!
