Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 lb ground chicken Use lean ground chicken for best results.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste for heat.
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Ensure gluten-free if needed.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns Toasted before serving.
Optional toppings
  • sliced pickles For tang.
  • cheese Cheddar or pepper jack recommended.
  • hot sauce For extra kick.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground chicken and cook until browned.
  2. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in Cajun seasoning, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 5 minutes until everything is heated through.
  4. Serve the mixture on hamburger buns and top with pickles, cheese, or hot sauce if desired.

Notes

Refrigerate leftover filling in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water or broth if the sauce has thickened too much. For a low-carb option, serve over roasted vegetables or in lettuce wraps instead of buns. Adjust the Cajun seasoning to taste; use less for milder heat.
