Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the browned beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Layering
- In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the frozen French fries.
- Spread the beef mixture over the fries, then top with the remaining fries.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optional: Add pickles on top before serving for extra flavor.
Notes
Drain the cooked beef well to prevent the casserole from becoming soggy. For extra flavor, stir a teaspoon of mustard or a splash of Worcestershire sauce into the beef mixture. If you like a crispier top, turn the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching closely to avoid burning.
