  • 1 bag (30 ounces) frozen hash browns Ideal for that crispy base.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded You can swap this for your favorite cheese.
  • 6 large eggs Farm-fresh eggs add a special touch.
  • 1 cup milk Or your preferred dairy alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • Optional: chopped green onions For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the hash browns, cooked sausage, half of the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the hash brown mixture and stir until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and return to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze portions in freezer-safe containers.
