  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced Consider adjusting salt levels due to ham.
Creamy Sauce
  • 115 grams unsalted butter Can sauté a small onion in butter for additional flavor.
  • 225 grams cream cheese, softened Low-fat cream cheese can be used for a lighter version.
  • 2 cups milk Use whole milk or low-fat as preferred.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Taste and adjust before assembling.
Topping
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Toast briefly in butter for crunchier topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in the cream cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of noodles, then some of the chicken, ham, sauce, and Swiss cheese.
  2. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, sauce, and topping with breadcrumbs.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Slice into portions and serve warm. Pair with a crisp green salad, roasted vegetables, or steamed green beans. Consider adding a squeeze of lemon on the side.
