  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, thinly sliced Thinly slice against the grain for tenderness.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided For cooking the chicken.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter For cooking the chicken.
  • to taste sliced peppers and onions, caramelized A mix of bell peppers increases sweetness.
  • to taste Provolone cheese Or substitute with American, mozzarella, or cheddar.
  • 4 hoagie rolls A sturdy roll is preferred.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken and Worcestershire sauce, cooking until chicken is browned and cooked through.
  3. In the same pan, add sliced peppers and onions, cooking until caramelized.
  4. Layer the cooked chicken, caramelized vegetables, and provolone cheese on hoagie rolls.
  5. Place under a broiler for a minute or two until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve hot with pickled jalapeƱos or hot sauce for heat. Great with fries, salad, or roasted potatoes.
