  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar The classic sweetener that adds delightful crunch.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed For depth and a hint of caramel flavor; dark brown sugar works well too.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A hug in liquid form.
  • 2 large eggs These bind the ingredients beautifully; chia eggs can be used for vegan option.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Base of the cookies; gluten-free flour can be substituted.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda For that perfect rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To enhance the flavors.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the cookie; can mix in nuts for extra crunch.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and light, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers still appear soft.
  3. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
