Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Measure flour properly: spoon into the cup and level off.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, soft Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Add-ins
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to substitute with festive candies.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use if desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 9 to 11 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
  2. Let cool on wire racks.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze baked cookies in a single layer on a baking sheet until firm, then transfer to a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
