Preparation
  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in food coloring if desired.
  4. Gradually add the rice cereal and stir until well coated.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  6. Once cool enough to handle, form into balls and roll in festive sprinkles.
  7. Place on parchment paper to set.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain softness. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week, bringing to room temperature before serving.
