Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Measure correctly to avoid dry cookies.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room-temperature butter for easier creaming.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Reduce or omit if using salted butter.
For Topping
  • 1 batch Buttercream frosting Use buttercream for topping and decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place them on ungreased cookie sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden.
  2. Let cool on wire racks, then top with buttercream frosting.

Notes

Store unfrosted cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Frosted cookies can be refrigerated and stored for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze unbaked dough balls or baked unfrosted cookies for up to 3 months.
