  • 1 large large ripe banana, frozen Swap with two small bananas if needed
  • 1 cup cold brewed coffee Or strong chilled drip coffee
  • 1 cup milk of choice Dairy, oat, or almond milk add creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter Smooth or crunchy; almond butter works as a substitute
  • 1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt Greek yogurt for more protein; skip for dairy-free
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup Optional, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, for a bakerly note
  • 4-6 ice cubes ice cubes Omit if using a frozen banana
  • pinch cinnamon or cocoa powder For garnish, optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather your ingredients and chill your coffee ahead of time.
  2. If using a fresh banana, slice and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Add the milk, coffee, peanut butter, yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla to the blender.
  4. Drop in the banana and the ice cubes. Secure the lid and start blending.
  5. Blend until the mixture is silky and there are no streaks of peanut butter.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness as needed.
  7. Pour into a tall glass, sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa, and serve immediately.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately for creaminess. Can store in an airtight container for up to 24 hours, shake or re-blend before serving. Freeze portions in ice cube trays for smoothie-ready cubes.
