Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set it aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together until fluffy—this usually takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, ensuring they are fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just blended; avoid overmixing!
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between them to allow for spreading.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are a light golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These cookies are perfect just as they are but can be enhanced with nuts or different chocolate types. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
