Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Feel free to swap out the apples based on preference.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and a pinch of salt. Mix until crumbly.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Pour the apple mixture into a greased baking dish and spread the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the apples are bubbly and the topping turns golden brown.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes.
