Preparation
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, and dried oregano.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
Cooking
- Place two slices of bread butter-side-down in the skillet.
- Add a slice of cheese on each piece of bread, then top with the remaining pieces of bread, butter-side-up.
- Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve warm.
Notes
Best enjoyed straight from the skillet while the cheese is still melty. Consider serving with tomato soup or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days; reheat in a skillet or panini press.
