  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda For that soft and chewy texture.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Makes for a rich, flavorful cookie.

  • 2 large eggs For the perfect binding.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to mix dark and milk chocolate for depth.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and both sugars until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  8. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a giant circle about 8 inches in diameter.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is slightly soft.
  2. Allow to cool on the pan for at least 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For variations, consider adding nuts or substituting half of the flour with cocoa powder for a chocolatey version. Serve warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
