Preparation
- Prepare your rice or chosen grain so it is warm when the beef finishes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil.
- Add the sliced onion and cook until the edges turn golden and sweet, about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Push the onion and garlic to the side, add the ground beef, and break it up with a wooden spoon. Brown the meat for about 6–8 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cumin, and red pepper flakes.
Cooking
- Stir in the soy sauce, then drizzle the hot honey over the beef. Let bubble for 1–2 minutes.
- Add the vinegar to balance sweetness and deglaze any sticky bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Taste and adjust seasoning.
- Toss in any optional greens just until wilted, or keep them on the side.
- Build the bowl: a warm bed of rice, a generous scoop of hot honey ground beef, and your chosen toppings.
Notes
