Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups corn syrup
Flavor and Coloring
  • 1 tablespoon flavored extract (like cinnamon or ginger)
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for coating

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve gelatin in a little cold water.
  3. Stir gelatin into the sugar mixture and bring to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat, add the flavored extract and food coloring if using.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased pan and let it set for several hours or overnight.
  6. Once set, cut into squares and coat with powdered sugar.
  7. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Store gum drops in an airtight container at room temperature, separated by layers of parchment or wax paper to avoid sticking. Properly stored, they keep well for 2–3 weeks. Avoid humid environments.
