Ingredients

Pasta and Base Ingredients
  • 12 oz pasta of choice (penne or fusilli)
  • 1 lb sausage (any variety, chicken or pork recommended)
  • 1 unit onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 unit bell pepper, sliced (optional) For added color
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it into pieces with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced onion and sliced bell pepper (if using) and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it!
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce and honey. Pour this mixture over the sausage and vegetables, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together to ensure that the pasta is thoroughly coated with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
