Ingredients

For the twists
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2-3 pieces fresh jalapeños (seeded and finely chopped) or swap with mild peppers for less heat
  • 1 piece egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder feel free to add a pinch of onion powder for depth
  • ¼ tsp salt to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Unroll your thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to gently roll it out to a larger rectangle, if desired.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, and salt until combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Assembly
  1. Cut the pastry into long strips—around 1 inch wide.
  2. Take a tablespoon of the cheese mixture and place it in the center of each strip. Fold the pastry over the filling and twist it to create a spiral shape.
  3. Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush them generously with the beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until twists are puffed and golden brown.
  2. Let cool for a minute or two before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
