Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups pretzel sticks Use regular or gluten-free, as needed.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted for caramel mixture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed tightly in the measuring cup.
Toppings
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or your preferred type.
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts Optional; choose based on preference.
  • Sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a pot over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar. Bring to a boil and let boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  3. Remove from heat and pour over the pretzel sticks in the prepared baking dish. Stir to combine.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool slightly.
  2. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and place back into the oven until melted (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the bars.
  4. Sprinkle with nuts and sea salt while the chocolate is still warm.
Cooling
  1. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 week; allow to come to room temperature before serving. Bars can be frozen layered between parchment for up to 2 months.
