Ingredients
  

For the mascarpone cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream Use cold for easier whipping.
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese For smoothest texture.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Adjust sweetness as desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg For seasonal flavor.
For assembly
  • 1 cup eggnog Use store-bought or homemade, pasteurized.
  • 1 package ladyfingers Do not over-soak.
  • cocoa powder For dusting before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  2. In another bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
Layering
  1. Dip each ladyfinger in eggnog briefly and layer them in a serving dish.
  2. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  3. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chilling
  1. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.

Notes

For best texture, avoid longer storage as ladyfingers will continue to soften. Can freeze portions for up to 1 month; thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
