Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice for that bright citrus flavor
  • Zest of 1 orange adds a lovely aromatic touch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce for umami depth
  • 2 tablespoons honey for sweetness
For the Salmon
  • 4 pieces salmon fillets fresh or frozen, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil to help with cooking
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: sliced green onions or sesame seeds

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, and honey.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Remove the fillets from the marinade (save it for later) and place them skin-side down in the hot skillet. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Flip the fillets and pour the reserved marinade over them. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the glaze is caramelized.
Serving
  1. Transfer the salmon to plates, drizzle with any remaining glaze, and garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
