Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs turnips, peeled and quartered
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated Feel free to use a mix of cheeses for an exciting flavor twist.
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil, add the quartered turnips, and cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
  3. Drain the turnips completely and return them to the pot. Mash them lightly; they should still have some texture.
  4. Stir in the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Baking
  1. Transfer the mashed turnips to a greased baking dish. Top with the grated Parmesan cheese.
  2. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  3. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. For a crispy topping, broil the dish for the last two minutes of cooking.
