Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 large large eggs Fresh, organic eggs will elevate the flavor.
  • 2 cups milk Whole milk makes it creamier, but feel free to use any kind.
  • 1 pound sausage You can choose spicy, sweet, or turkey sausage depending on your taste.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Cheddar is ideal, but mixing in some mozzarella adds a nice texture.
  • 4 cups cubed bread Stale bread works best for soaking up the egg mixture.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Don’t forget to season well for a flavorful dish!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage until browned. Drain the excess fat and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese into the egg mixture, stirring until evenly mixed.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving; it’s best enjoyed warm!

Notes

Feel free to swap the sausage with veggies or bacon for a different flavor profile. You can also prepare this ahead of time by assembling it the night before and baking in the morning.
