Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Feel free to swap with turkey sausage for a lighter option.
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 can buttermilk biscuits, cut into quarters Or swap for homemade ones if you’re feeling adventurous.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Try using pepper jack for a spicy twist.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbly pieces until fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined and frothy.
  4. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer the cooked sausage and biscuit pieces evenly. Pour the egg mixture over the top, ensuring all the biscuits are soaked.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole, coating it generously.
  6. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until the casserole is puffed and golden brown.
  7. Once baked, let it cool slightly before garnishing with fresh green onions.
  8. Slice into squares and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, use egg whites instead of whole eggs, incorporate spinach or kale, or experiment with different cheeses.
