Ingredients

For the Cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For that rich flavor and tender texture. (Optional coconut oil can make these cookies richer.)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Provides depth and moisture. (Use light or dark depending on your preference.)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar For added sweetness and crunch.
  • 1 large egg Binds the mixture beautifully. (Use a flax egg for a vegan version.)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract A must for that warm, inviting aroma.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For the structure. (Try a gluten-free blend for a healthier option!)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Helps the cookies rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips The star of the show! (Dark or white chocolate can also work wonderfully.)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet, stirring just until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dollops of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can freeze uncooked dough for longer storage. Remember not to overbake for optimal softness.
