  • 1 tsp baking soda Helps give the cookies a lovely rise.
  • 0.5 tsp salt Balances the sweetness.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Softened at room temperature for that pleasing texture.
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese Adds the signature softness and flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar For a deep, caramel-like sweetness.
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar Lightens the sweetness.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Binds all ingredients together.
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Because we can never have too much chocolate!

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined—do not overmix!
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the cookie dough for 30 minutes before baking for an even chewier texture. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
