  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature for easier creaming.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Colored sugar or sprinkles for decoration Choose seasonal colors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fill a cookie press with the dough and press out onto ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar or sprinkles.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Freeze in a single layer for up to 2 months if needed. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
