Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room-temperature for easier creaming
  • 1 cup peanut butter Smooth or chunky based on preference
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Brown sugar adds moisture
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Leavening for softness
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter
Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or milk chocolate according to preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  2. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven until soft in the center and lightly browned on the edges.
  3. Allow to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a softer cookie, do not overbake. Store cookies in an airtight container. To keep them soft, place a slice of bread in the container.
